Koji Abe joined ITOCHU Corporation in 1990. He has 12-year global business experience in electronics, telecommunications, and IT industries. From 2008 to 2011, he served as General Manager of Innovative Technology Business Development Department, where he spent 10 years leading ITOCHU’s innovative technology initiatives through venture investments and joint R&D program with universities and research institutions in the advanced technology field. In 2013, he was appointed General Manager of Corporate Development Department, and was responsible for ITOCHU’s new mid-to-long term business initiatives in advanced technology areas such as energy, healthcare, social infrastructure, and industrial materials. In 2018, Abe was appointed as Vice President of ITOCHU Technology Ventures, Inc. In 2023, he resigned the post and became General Partner at ITOCHU Technology Ventures, Inc. He holds an ME in Communication Engineering from Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University.
